TO HELP IN EARLY PREPARATION WE ARE ANNOUNCING SOME CRITICAL DEADLINES AND DATES THAT YOU SHOULD MARK DOWN:
We will be capping the D1 Tournament at 12 or 16 teams. If we have too many teams we will use the last week of league play as a playoff round to decide who will go to D1 and who will go to D2. The teams playing in the play in will be determined by regular season results.
October 21st – DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR EARLY BID FOR THE STATE TOURNAMENT
- This helps us plan for number of teams
- It also ensures we can follow up with you regarding other deadlines!
October 28th –OFFICIAL USAU REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR STATE
- Must have your Roster Created and Register for Event

- Important Note – USAU now requires a coach level member with CDP Certification to be on your roster for HS States.

November 11th – DEADLINE FOR ONLINE ROSTERING
- Rostering will be left open even after first games have started. PLEASE make sure no players take the field until they are up to date with USAU and added to your roster!
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
- Single School Representation / Player Eligibility required
- If you have players on your roster that are NOT full time students at the school being represented you must seek an exception. Competing with ineligible players could get your team disqualified. If you have players from other schools on your team reach out to us BEFORE State to make sure your situation is approved. Please see the Eligibility Requirements Doc for more information.
- Safe Sport – ANY adult working with your team must take USAU’s SafeSport Certification! Know the law and protect your staff and volunteers!

HOW TIES WILL BE AWARDED
- Bids are awarded in order #1 then #2 then #3 then #4
- If there’s still a tie after what’s written below, final tie breaks are decided by previous year’s average spirit score amongst tied geographical districts)

Whichever District has the highest single placement in the previous year’s state championships

This bid, if tied, goes to the district that has not yet been awarded an extra bid or awarded the least number of bids amongst the tied districts

HOW UNUSED BIDS ARE AWARDED
Any Unused Bids will be awarded based on the current year’s DI registration. For example: The first unused bid goes to the District with the most teams currently registered in DI, Second unused bid goes to the District with the 2nd most teams currently registered in DI, etc…..
When there are less than 16 teams are requesting to play DI – When there are less than 16 requesting to play DI State, the tournament will host a set number of teams based on this schedule:
- >16 – 16 team DI Tournament (Bids are awarded as written)
- 15-12 – 12 team DI Tournament (each division starts with one less auto bid)
- 11-10 – 10 team DI Tournament (each division starts with one less auto bid and no size or growth bids awarded)
- 9-8 – 8 team DI Tournament (each division gets one bid and the last 4 bids awarded will be Strength 1 and 2 along with Size and Growth)
- <8 – A round robin Tournament will include all teams
