MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAYING OPPORTUNITIES
SPRING
2022 Middle School Spring Club
AYU’s local club program for local middle schoolers looking for playing opportunities throughout the front range!
The Spring Club program will begin mid March with two practices/scrimmages per week, culminating with a club tournament the first or second weekend of May. Schools with programs in the Spring may submit a team to participate in the Middle School Spring Tournament and are encouraged to scrimmage versus other school and club programs.
We will try to have a total of 12 sessions so there is a week “buffer” in case of weather cancelations and/or missed practices to be determined by each district coordinator.
Starting the first week of April, teams will travel to play other local Club or school teams. These games will be set up by your district Coordinator.
The club costs ($245) will cover coaches, fields, USAU membership, and admin with each player to receive one disc and one AYU reversible. There will be an additional $25 for the tournament.

FALL
The primary focus for Middle School play in the fall will be school-based (find a team here), yet AYU will host middle school scrimmage days throughout the front range. This will provide offer playing opportunities to anyone without a school program while allowing schools to host their own practices and teams. These scrimmage days will consist of one hour of coach-led drills and skills development followed by one hour of gameplay.
We expect to host these scrimmages at various parks in the following areas: Boulder, Denver – East (City Park), & Fort Collins. We hope host a learn-to-play leagues or clinics in areas that can’t host scrimmage days.
In 2021, scrimmages began the weekend of Sept. 18th and went through Oct. 30th for six weeks of play and one week buffer in case of weather cancelations.
There was a middle school tournament the weekend of Nov. 6th – we had teams at the tournament that consisted of schools with their own programs or teams made up of players from the scrimmages who do not attend a school with an Ultimate program.
Depending on numbers, players divided up to play with similar grades (5th/6th graders & 7th/8th graders together). We also will plan to host a girls scrimmage at each location as well!
